Marathon Monday

This legendary spring event is not one to miss! Marathon Monday, considered the highlight of Vappu and the longest Sillis in the world, was first held in 2015. The very first Marathon Monday took place in the basement of the Student Union House, where a couch was brought in and foam parties were held in the shower room. Although the concept has evolved since then, it still brings student crowds from all over Finland to Lappeenranta every year. 

The first festival of summer lasts 24 hours and is packed with energy and excitement! Expect amazing artists, great activities, and an electrifying atmosphere! Artists who have taken the Marathon Monday stage include Jukka Poika, Teflon Brothers, Portion Boys, and Kasmir. 

In addition to the gigs, there's plenty to do for every marathoner! In the beer pong tournament, students compete in this well-known party game. Thanks to sponsors, the event area has also featured other fun activities over the years, such as a bouncy castle, vertical bungee, and a mechanical bull. NESU-Enklaavi joins the fun by organizing speed sitsit (a shorter version of traditional academic student dinners with singing and toasts), ensuring that even sitsi culture is part of the day. And of course, the epic afterparty keeps the Marathon Monday spirit going late into the night! 

But the event doesn’t stop there - there’s even an after-afterparty! As the sun rises, everyone heads back to the event area for some early-morning raving and karaoke. Aamun sarastaessa matkataan vielä takaisin tapahtuma-alueelle, jossa luvassa on esimerkiksi reivaamista sekä karaokea.
